Kindly be advised that there are currently no commercial flights arriving or departing from South Africa.

It has therefore become necessary for South African Citizens to look at the option of arranging private charter flights to South Africa. This can be done in cooperation with their travel insurance companies, their sponsors or in groups with other South African Citizens in the same country. Ports of entry authorised to receive approved chartered flights are the airports: Cape Town International, King Shaka International and O. R. Tambo International.

We appeal to those who wish to return home to do so at their own cost. South African Citizens will also have to liaise with family and friends in South Africa should they be in need of funds to pay for accommodation and other necessities. Please note that the repatriation will be for the expense of the person being repatriated.

It must be noted that all South African Citizens abroad will be subjected to screening prior to boarding any flight during the current COVID-19 restrictions. South African Citizens who are found to be symptomatic will not be allowed to travel and will be subjected to the host country’s health requirements. These measures are in line with the WHO guidelines.

A compulsory quarantine period of 14 days will be strictly enforced on all persons returning, at sites identified by the Department of Health.
