South African Cheese Festival

From the 26th to the 28th of April at Sandringham outside of Stellenbosch, you can celebrate all things cheese at the annual SA Cheese Festival. You can experience a moonlit picnic with goodies bought from the festival, with live music from well-known musicians. Several artisan cheese makers will be on hand throughout the festival so you can sample their cheeses and find out more about their trade. A variety of cheeses are on offer from some of South Africa’s larger cheeseries, while handpicked producers provide a number of other treats. In the Checkers and Food Theatres celebrated foodies will entertain the crowds with their cheese-cooking demonstrations.   Purchase your R115 ticket from your nearest Computicket or Checkers (no tickets at the gates). Senior citizens pay R90 and children 13 years and younger enter free. Opening times for Friday is from 10:00 to 22:00, on Saturday from 10:00 to 18:00 and Sunday from 10:00 to 17:00. Wine tasting glasses will be on sale at R15 at the gates.   Visit www.cheesefestival.co.za for more information or contact Agri-Expo at tel 021 975 4440 or cheese@agriexpo.co.za.
